Location of known landslide dams triggered by the November 14 earthquake. Dams primarily mapped by GNS Science using a handheld GPS device during helicopter reconnaissance flights. Landslide scale, lake size and relative hazard were recorded by GNS Science during their mapping, however these fields have not been maintained to reflect any subsequent changes. The last check date and status of the dams identified as ‘Key Dams’ are being updated by Environment Canterbury as field inspections are carried out. |
